Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille on Penalties to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on 14 different times.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the match between the French league winners and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side fired twice late to take a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial equaliser in the final seconds to force the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to seal a convincing shootout win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the past thirteen years.
